The 10653NAT Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing is the first course of its kind, offering coaches, psychologists, human resource professionals, business leaders, teachers and others comprehensive, credible training in applied positive psychology below post-graduate level.

The Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing is recognised by the Australian Skills Quality Authority as nationally recognised training. It is also supported by the Canadian and New Zealand Positive Psychology Associations.

A Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing from the Langley Group Institute will be awarded on successful completion.

The post-nominal qualification is Dip Pos Psych.

Units of Competency

To be awarded the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing participants must successfully complete eight units of competency made up of six core units and two electives. A robust self-paced assessment process will determine your competency.

Core Units: face-to-face training

  • PPWRAT001 –  Research and apply theories of positive psychology to establish and develop own level of wellbeing
  • PPWDAI002 – Develop and apply interventions to leverage positive emotions
  • PPWDEI003 – Develop engagement interventions for personal and professional growth
  • PPWDII004 – Develop and implement interventions to increase meaning and fulfilment in different settings
  • PPWDII005 – Develop and implement interventions to build positive relationships
  • PPWEMA006 –  Establish and monitor achievement of positive goals for personal and professional growth

Elective Units:

  • PPWAPC007 – Apply positive coaching to increase individual wellbeing
  • PPWIOP008 – Increase organisational performance through application of positive leadership strategies
  • PPWDIP009 – Develop and implement positive parenting interventions
  • PPWDSI010 – Develop strategies for implementation to create positive communities
  • PPWDSI011 – Develop strategies for implementation to create positive education institutions
  • PPWADSI012 – Develop strategies for implementation to increase positive human resource practices

The Format of the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing has been designed for the business professional. The course consists of six core modules, a choice of two elective modules and a range of assessment activities. The six core modules run over six full days of face-to-face training. In some locations, the core modules are delivered as a six-day intensive workshop and in other locations are delivered as two blocks of three days across two weeks. The two elective units are completed online at your own pace.


You have a total of 12 months to complete the course. Should you wish to complete the course in a shorter time frame that is of course very much achievable. We have mentors to guide and support you through your assessment and elective units.


All assessments are based on competency-based training and assessment principles and will result in a ‘Competent’ or ‘Not yet competent’ outcome.

Please be aware that we are more than happy to be flexible with assessments and will structure assessments around any physical or mental impairments.

Course Fees

The course fee for the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing (10653NAT) is AU$7,500 and is GST exempt.

The payment schedule for the Diploma:
Deposit $1,500 (on registration)
Instalment 1 $2,000 (before starting the face-to-face training)
Instalment 2 $2,000 (within one month after completing the face-to-face training)
Instalment 3 $2,000 (within two months after completing the face-to-face training)

Where an employer or organisation is funding the training, full payment of $7,500 can be made upfront.

Accommodation Package

There is also an additional accommodation package of $3,900 + GST which includes:

  • 6-nights accommodation in a private suite at Byron at Byron Resort and Spa;
  • All daytime meals (breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea);
  • One group dinner at the resort (3-course dinner and drinks);
  • Use of resort facilities including the stunning infinity pool, tennis court and gym;
  • Enjoy daily yoga and the rainforest walking trails;
  • All the bells and whistles of this world-class resort!

Payment for the accommodation package is due by the 31 May 2020. Your accommodation package invoice will be sent out separately by the Langley Group Institute after your registration has been received and confirmed. Please do not book your accommodation directly with the resort. Once you have paid for your accommodation package through the Langley Group Institute you can upgrade your room, extend your stay or change your room to double occupancy and bring your partner. To do this please contact the resort directly, any costs associated with any changes are the responsibility of the student.

Flights and airport transfers are the responsibility of individual students. Please be mindful to arrive prior to course commencement and to schedule your airport transfer and departing flight in line with the timetable for the final day of the retreat.

It is a requirement that if you register to attend the Retreat at Byron Bay that you stay at Byron at Byron, you cannot choose separate accommodation as your experience on the retreat will be impacted.

Please note that missed payments for the course fees or non-payment of your accommodation package through Langley Group Institute will jeopardise your place on the course. Your accommodation package is non-refundable if you withdraw from the Byron Bay retreat or defer to another intake within 30 days of course commencement.  If you withdraw or defer between 30 and 60 days of course commencement then 50% of your accommodation fee is non-refundable.  If you withdraw or defer between 60 and 90 days of course commencement then 25% of your accommodation fee is non-refundable.

Enrolments and bookings:

Enrolments in our courses are accepted all year round, however, our retreats prove to be extremely popular, and previous retreats have filled six months ahead of time. We recommend you complete your enrolment as early as possible. Once the course is full, a waitlist will be kept in case individuals cancel and places become available. While courses are rarely cancelled, if minimum numbers have not been reached we will contact you to discuss the various options.
