🎓 Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing

What drew you to study the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing?

"Professionally, I wanted to bring evidence-based tools into my workplace to support engagement, wellbeing, and performance. Personally, I was curious about how I could apply these practices to cultivate greater fulfilment, manage challenges more effectively, and live in alignment with my values."

I actually wanted to do this a few years ago already and never got to it. Eventually, when I decided to complete the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing, my HR role was very demanding. While I enjoyed the work, I noticed how much stress and change were affecting both myself and those around me. I was also seeking more balance and meaning in my own life, and I wanted to find practical strategies to improve my wellbeing and resilience.

I was particularly drawn to the course because it combined scientific research with real-world application. I had always been interested in psychology, yet I wanted to explore a more strengths-based, proactive approach rather than focusing only on problems. The idea of learning about resilience, flourishing, and positive interventions really resonated with me.

The Diploma felt like the perfect opportunity to deepen my knowledge, develop practical skills, and connect with like-minded people who shared an interest in creating positive change.

How was your experience studying this course?

"Overall, the Diploma exceeded my expectations. It provided both depth and practicality, giving me a toolkit I can draw on to enhance wellbeing, resilience, and performance for myself and others."

My experience of the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing was both enriching and transformative. One of the biggest “ah ha” moments for me was realising how shifting focus from fixing weaknesses to cultivating strengths can open up new possibilities, both personally and professionally. The Strengths Profile assessment in particular gave me powerful insights into the ways I naturally create energy and value, and also highlighted areas I could develop with more intention.

I found the evidence-based frameworks, such as broaden-and-build theory and self-determination theory, particularly interesting because they linked directly to real-world applications in my workplace and personal life. It was encouraging to see how practical, small interventions can create a ripple effect of positive change. The Work on Wellbeing assessment also provided a helpful baseline and a reminder of the areas where I can continue to grow and sustain my wellbeing.

At the same time, I found parts of the course challenging, in particular, balancing study with work and personal commitments, and being pushed to reflect deeply on my own habits and mindset. However, these challenges ultimately made the learning more valuable, as I was able to integrate the concepts into my everyday life rather than just keeping them theoretical.

How has the Diploma helped you spread positive ripples in your world?

"The most rewarding part has been seeing how others take these ideas forward in their own way, whether a colleague who feels more confident after a strengths conversation, or a friend who adopts a new wellbeing practice after I’ve shared my experience."

Since completing the Diploma, I have been intentional about spreading “positive ripples” in both my work and personal life. The course gave me a framework, language, and set of tools that I now integrate into everyday interactions, projects, and leadership.

Professionally, I have channelled my energy into creating environments where people feel valued, supported, and able to thrive. I have introduced strengths-based conversations into team development, drawing on the Strengths Profile to help individuals understand their unique contributions. This has shifted the focus from performance gaps to growth opportunities, which has been energising for both me and my colleagues. I have also used concepts such as broaden-and-build theory and growth mindset to support wellbeing initiatives, performance reviews, and employee engagement processes. These applications may not always be visible as “programmes,” yet the influence is felt in the way I approach challenges, communicate with others, and encourage resilience.

On a personal level, the Diploma has helped me to build greater self-awareness and balance. Practices such as gratitude, mindfulness, and strengths reflection have become part of my routine, allowing me to navigate challenges with more perspective and optimism. Sharing these practices with family, friends, and my community has been a natural extension, whether that’s encouraging others to reframe difficulties, modelling self-care, or volunteering my time in ways that align with my values.

Spreading these positive ripples has given me a sense of purpose and fulfilment. It reminds me that even small actions can create wider change.

"I now approach both work and life with a greater sense of possibility, focusing on strengths, connection, and meaning."

In summary, the Diploma has had a profound impact on my life. It has provided knowledge and skills, and also inspired a shift in mindset. The ripples I am spreading may vary in size, yet collectively they reflect the deeper impact the course has had on me, and the positive contribution I aspire to make in the lives of others. I cannot recommend this highly enough!
