What drew you to study the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing?

"What interested me most about the course was everything, particularly the units on Relationships, Goals, and Coaching."

My boss was the one who encouraged me to take a leap of confidence. She, too, is studying, and I haven’t studied in years, having completed my degree in Early Childhood Education. I wanted to approach this course with open eyes and curiosity, hoping that over time, the new knowledge and understanding I gain will filter through my perspective and support my family and friends where needed.

At the time, I was working in a fast-paced retail environment, meeting people from all walks of life. Juggling work, financial pressures, illness in the family, and relationship challenges made life intense.

My goal is to take everything one day at a time and put it into perspective.

How was your experience studying this course?

"They made me feel welcome and valued as a person. I never thought I could get my head around studying again – yet I did it!"

I have become more aware and mindful of situations in my work, home, family, and the wider community where I live. There were so many ‘ah-ha’ moments throughout this immersion course. Meeting new people, who were initially complete strangers, and seeing them become familiar faces over the course in Auckland was special. I learned to embrace strategies for managing my emotions and expressing myself with much more meaning. The hardest part was opening up to others in a group setting, letting go of uncertainties, and looking at life from a different perspective.

Working through each assessment, I sometimes felt stressed. However, once I settled into my designated study day, everything fell into place and flowed. I am incredibly grateful to my boss, whose constant support, encouragement, and willingness to help whenever I needed it made such a difference.

The course exceeded all my expectations. The support from Langley Group Institute’s student support coaches and my marker, Barbara, was amazing. They made me feel welcome and valued as a person. I never thought I could get my head around studying again – yet I did it! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

How are you spreading positive ripples in your world?

"My focus remains on nurturing positive relationships, especially within my family and home life."

I have continued to use positive affirmations on our work whiteboards, and my colleagues have contributed regularly as well. I am very grateful for that. My focus remains on nurturing positive relationships, especially within my family and home life. With my husband, we have connected and grown through the coaching plans, which continue to develop. Overall, these steps have strengthened us as a family unit.
